The Dutch painter has made a special effort to depict a Chinese scene, adopting all kinds of elements from Eastern porcelain, for example, the motif of the man with the carrying stick over his shoulder, the composition of the landscape, the non-perspectival drawing of the pavilion on the right or the way the headland in front is depicted. In the process, there are also parts not quite understood, such as the rocks on the right that look like clouds. He has combined all these elements in his own, Western way, creating a chinoiserie.
