Famille verte, decorated in enamel colors on the bisque with fruit-bearing peach and pomegranate branches, covered with a transparent lead glaze. Outlines and details are painted in black. Beneath the glaze a decoration of two dragons chasing a flaming pearl between cloud motifs is inscribed in the cookie. On the exterior two elongated flower branches and the same inscribed decoration. Below on the white glazed bottom the six-character Kangxi mark in a double circle. Such incised, on and in cookie (fired but unglazed porcelain) decorated dishes are among the finest pieces in this genre produced for the Imperial court. Imperial Kangxi porcelain (identification Hu Zhaohui, National Museum of China and Christiaan Jörg), for the court's own use. Similar specimens are in the National Museum in Taiwan, in the Shanghai Museum and elsewhere. Later imitations exist, also Kangxi marked. However, the smoothness of the painting, the accurate engraving and the soft, cream color of the bisque of these two dishes warrants a dating in the Kangxi period.
