Oviform Zhangzhou pot on footring, domed shoulder, low wide mouthrim. Decorated in overglaze iron-red and green enamel with four large panels containing representations of flowering plants and herons. Between the panels a diaper pattern with large three-quarter circles in red above and below. On the shoulder Fo-dogs, scrolls, ribbons and cash motifs. Around the foot three scrolls. Crackled glaze. Kiln-sand adhering to base. As the dish, cat. 19{}, the red medallions also indicate the manufacturing date. Such pots are found in abundance in Indonesia, where they are preserved for generations and revered as heirlooms (pusaka).
