Small plate on footring, wide, slightly upturned rim. Decorated in underglaze blue. In the centre a fish-scale pattern with five reserved, lobed half-panels with a flower, in the centre a lobed panel with the character shou (long life). On the rim a diaper pattern with four reserved panels each with a flower spray. On the reverse six shou characters above an undulating foliate scroll. On the base the six-character mark Chenghua in a double circle. As the bowl, cat. 57, this is also a symmetrical, formal decoration. Note the decorative use of the shou character, which can be written in several ways.
