Bowl on footring, spreading sides. Decorated in China with underglaze blue with a diamond-work band around the rim and foot, otherwise plain. Overdecorated in Holland with with two groups comprising a bird and a flower spray. On the inside of the sides four flower sprays, flying birds between. The decoration was inspired by Japanese Kakiemon porcelain, which often has a bird on a flower spray and phoenixes in flight as prominent motifs. Here, the motifs have been simplified, enlarged, and used as independent decorative elements. As the bowl, cat. 111, the original Chinese rim decoration has has been respected.
