Dish on footring, flat rim. In the centre a raised cone comprising three rounded sections. Decorated in underglaze blue. On the sides and rim a landscape with figures, houses, a deer, trees and fencing. Flower scrolls on the cone. Although this rare dish conforms to the tradition of kraak porcelain, the shape and decoration classify it as transitional porcelain. It serves as a saucer for a ewer, the hollow foot of the latter fitting over the cone. The Chinese potter certainly copied it from a European model. It is unknown if there was a matching Chinese porcelain ewer (no examples have been found to date), or if an earthenware or metal example was supplied from Europe. The decoration of figures in a continuous landscape is typical of transitional porcelain.
