Plate on footring, flat rim, brown sides. Originally undecorated, decorated in enamel colours with a European river scene. At right on the riverbank rocks, trees and shrubs, a tower with a flag and two men, the one wearing a red dress looking through a (barely visible) telescope while resting his arm on his servant's head (or is he being picked up by him?). At left moored boats, houses and a large flower spray. In contrast to the dish cat. 109, a European scene is depicted here. The style is rather sketchy but flowing and lively. The meaning of the representation is unclear. Is the man with the telescope looking downriver, or perhaps spying on someone unseen? It is unknown if this plate was decorated in The Netherlands or in England. The large flower spray does not really fit into the scene and has been painted differently, perhaps indicating that it was added later–an overdecorated Amsterdams Bont decoration.
