On the sides in pomegranate-shaped panels running horses amidst flames topped by a flower head in an oval medallion, alternating with peaches growing from rocks above a flower head in an oval medallion. On the shoulder two cartouches with emblems reserved on a blue diaper ground. The neck with upright banana leaves, the spout with flower sprays alternating with emblems, and the rim with a petal border.

Pomegranate panels appear on closed forms of Kraak porcelain as of c. 1590. Flying horses were popular motifs on this type of porcelain and are depicted mostly on bowls, pear-shaped bottles and kendis. They are also part of the decorative scheme on kendis with straight panelling made in Safavid Persia. This kendi was collected in Indonesia.
