Kendi with recessed, unglazed base. The compressed globular body with a bag-shaped spout and cylindrical neck, ringed at the mouth. The sides with a lotus scroll, a lappet border around the foot, a ruyi-and-dot border around the shoulder. The neck with bands and upright banana leaves above a meander, the spout with floral sprays.
Kendis with this type of bag-shaped spout have been recovered from the Lena cargo (late 15th c.). The ruyi-and-dot border appears on a jar from the same cargo. The rather dense decoration is often seen in this period as is the bluish tinge in the glaze. It was acquired in Indonesia.
