Dish of saucer shape on a foot ring, the base with a lingzhi fungus in a double ring. Painted in red, green, mustard-yellow, and aubergine enamels and black outlines with flowering peony and buds against a ground of scrolling leaves. A border of chrysanthemum heads and scrolls reserved against red under the white-edged rim. The back with three flower sprays.
A dish with a bold design of peony with a strong chrysanthemum border. The use of colour is especially effective. These brightly coloured dishes were particularly popular on the Southeast Asian markets. They were delivered in numerous different patterns and also traded in the Middle East as their presence in the Topkapi Saray collection confirm. The dish was found in Indonesia.
