Description

Plate with everted rim, the base with three spur marks. The centre with the VOC initials encircled by two phoenixes, pomegranates and camellia. On the well and the rim in Chinese kraak style six wide panels with bamboo and prunus alternating with peony, divided by narrow panels with scrolls in blue on blue. The reverse plain.

The monogram of the Dutch Eastindia Company, the VOC is found on dishes and bowls. These objects were apparently only used by officers of the Company. Dishes with this monogram are in several public and private collections.
