Description

Bottle of pear shape with moulded sides, on the base the Macao mark, the long neck with a thickened lip, the painted decoration in two blues. Around the neck pearl strings with tassels in narrow panels, a band of ruyi heads below. Around the sides over a petal border in six panels separated by pearl-strings and tassels, landscape scenes with flowering sprays, magpies, and birds of prey.

This bottle lacks the heaviness and thick potting that are characteristic of this shape. The painting in various shades of an intense blue is excellent. The Macao mark is very rare. Although bottles with this panelling are quite common in collections, this example is exceptional.
