Description

Dish of saucer shape with an upturned, lobed rim. On the inside, enclosed within a star-shaped medallion bordered by various diapers a bracketed medallion with two geese standing and two in flight near a lotus pond. On the sides ten roundels linked by scrolls, with emblems, peach and flower sprays. The exterior with grouped dots and symbols between vertical lines.

In this well-painted dish there is a marked contrast between the light and the dark shades of cobalt-blue. There are a number of these dishes in the Santos Palace, Lisbon, with a variety of central motifs. They are generally very well represented in collections in northern Europe.
