Chinese porcelain bowl on a footring, with curved sides and an everted rim. Decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze red, gold, yellow and blue enamel colours. In the centre lotus plants in a double circle, surrounded by flower scrolls in small panels and leaf rosettes. Around the foot a frieze with ruyi motifs. On the base a Jiajing mark in a double circle. The underglaze-blue decoration was overdecorated in Holland in the mid-18th century with overglaze enamel colours: red, gold, yellow, blue of the Amsterdams Bont type. In the large panels finely-painted flower baskets or fishermen in boats by a shore, flower and foliate scrolls between. This bowl was in a 16th-century European Royal collection.
