Description

Klapmuts bowl, decorated in underglaze blue. In the centre an underglaze-blue double circle containing a pilgrims bottle, a scroll, a banana leaf, three flywhisks and two ruyi motifs. The sides and scalloped rim each have four wide and four narrow panels. In the wide panels four oval panels with a peach branch, a pilgrims bottle, a chrysanthemum and a scroll. In the wide panels on the rim four trapezoid panels with two tao-tie masks and trelliswork, three arabesques on either side of the panels. In the narrow panels bandwork emerging from a ruyi motif. The outside of the sides decorated with four oval panels alternately containing a peach branch and a ruyi motif with band work. In the four narrow panels a lingzhi (fungus) motif. On the reverse of the rim four stylised flower sprays.
