In the centre a decoration of flowering plants in enamels colours. | | | Detailed description | | According to the mark in seal script on the base, this object was specially made for Empress Cixi, regent and mother of the emperors Tongzhi and Guangxu. It may date from 1884, when the empress turned fifty years old. Imperial porcelain factories, where this dish was made, were provided with examples of eighteenth-century Qianlong porcelain by Cixi, which they copied. The eighteenth-century character of the decoration indicates that this is a copy of an earlier example. | | | Object | | Dish | |
